LETTER TO EDITOR OF THE VALLEY BREEZE

Good Work, Ernie

Last week Thursday I was taking the Palm Springs Citizens Academy class. The speaker was a coachella gang crime expert. He went over some of the issues that cities can do to help keep the neighborhoods nice therefore reducing the blighted homes that these valley wide gang bangers use as flop houses. He seemed extremely knowledgeable of the gang crime issues. He stressed the importance of making an environment that is hostile to these gangs.
One of the items he mentioned that helps reduce crime was strict code enforcement. He then mentioned out of the blue that Desert Hot Springs has done an absolute excellent job in its code enforcement and has probably the best enforcement in the valley he has seen. He also said some other very complimentary things about our past Police history of gang suppression activities.

Sometimes we focus on the negative. But it is nice to hear unsolicited positive things about DHS. It makes me proud to live here. This city really looks better everyday.

Keep up the good work Ernie. And thanks for making DHS a safer and cleaner place to live
