If Jerry was such a great manager per Council, why is he resigning instead of answering the questions directly? If he has done nothing wrong, then why is he running from these questions? Right now, our Council has the opportunity to hire a City Manager who is ethical, transparent and will hire the most qualified department heads instead of the least qualified crone friends and friends of some council members. For many years, we all have suffered from the on-going embarrassments from these un-qualified and under qualified department heads. We can end this embarrassment now under new competent management and leadership. Dear Council We need an honest transparent ethical City Manager who will hire and promote the most qualified individuals to run our city. Lets end the practice favoritism of placing crony friends into positions of management and commissions. This change will go far in improving our city employee, volunteer and citizen moral. Lets end the long standing practice of secrecy in our local government actions and contract deals. These changes will help improve our standing in the Coachella Valley. We need ethical, honest, TRANSPARENT and competent city government. No more secrets from the public! No more incompetence! Council members (exceptionally Mary and Hank) need to understand that there is no justification for dishonesty from Management. This is NOW a great opportunity for our council to get it right! NO MORE CRONISM!!!! Why is it that under present Management and leadership, we have and are presently loosing our best policeman, commissioners, other volunteers and dedicated city employees??? The hostile work environment created by our City Manager and Council needs to stop now. Council now has the opportunity to stop the bleeding. 05/27/05 City Attorney totally out of control!! Rouge Assistant City Attorney attacks Gabriel King again today! with new letter. Today's letter states that the first letter sent to COP accusing Gabriel King of racism was sent by him personally and was independent of any direction from any City Leadership or management. (interestingly his personal letter was on official DHS stationary) This Attorney should be fired for insubordination. New letter sent today re accuses Gabriel King of racism. Gabriel King requests that Deputy City Attorney be terminated for admitting to acting independently of city leadership and exposing the city to liability from his independent slanderous letter sent to Citizens On Patrol officers. City Attorney states that he stand by his letter containing accusations of racism. He needs to prove the accusations in the first letter sent to COP. He refuses to do so. I am formally requesting that the slanderous letter dated May
17, addressed to Citizen On Patrol Officers and Board of Directors and
received on May 24 written by DHS City Attorney Thomas R. Neumann
be placed on the next City Council meeting on June 7, 2005 Agenda
for discussion by the parties involved. Said letter contains
many unsubstantiated accusations of racist activities by myself.
The Police Chief told me yesterday that he was aware of said letter
and had no knowledge what so ever of any reports or any other
information that would back up these accusations. The letter
accuses me of chasing down cars and forcing the occupants to remove
their Mexican Flags, etc.
I need to be allowed to clear my name. In that said letter
mentions my first amendment rights and the website, it is clear
to most that this letter is nothing more than a cheap retaliatory
effort to smear my reputation in order to remove me from my Citizens
on Patrol Presidency and to marginalize my First Amendment efforts
to bring sunshine on the recent highly questionable actions of
the City Manager and two Council Members.
Discussion regarding the appropriateness of a City Attorney
leveling highly slanderous charges in a formal letter from the
city with absolutely no back up in fact should also be discussed.
Reading this slimly baseless letter make me ill.
For your information, Chief McKinney terminated my Citizens
On Patrol Presidency yesterday for my first amendment contents

Please do not schedule for this issue in a secret meeting prior

05/25/05 Past Posted retribution threats coming true! Chief McKinney terminated Gabriel King from his Citizens On Patrol (COP) Presidency today. The reason given is a disagreement regarding the comments on this web regarding the Chief. First Amendment is not allowed in DHS for volunteers. City Attorney Slimed Gabriel King with letter filled with outrageous insane accusations including racism. As soon as letter is scanned, we will post it here so everyone can read the slimy letter. The letter proves beyond any reasonable doubt that DHS Leadership will do anything to silence the truth. Portion of racism accusations came from the Offensive Political Humor! Page. (Please read it yourself and decide). Seems the City attorney is the only person who considers this racist. Too bad they are more concerned with my political correctness than their own rampant corruption. That is what should be considered the most offensive. Gabriel King has been threatened and warned that DHS leadership will do what ever is required to silence him. This including dumping his body somewhere in the desert if necessary. After posting DHS slimy letters and answers to them, Gabriel King may shut down this web site for obvious reasons! Stay tuned!

Hank Hohenstein requested to draft legislation requiring citizen/council members to get permission in secret to exercise their first amendment. Cindy Uken agrees with us that Hank's request is an outrageous and unconstitutional power grab from Hank. Shown directly below is the First Amendment. 05/10/05 We read the recent Desert Breeze article by Hank and Mary. The Articles are mostly spin and smoke with little to no substance. Mary, Hank and Jerry may have violated CA Gov. Code Sec. 8700 Unfortunately for all of us, Mary and Matt did not address the particulars of concern we at this web site have brought forth. For starters, Mary and Matt did not address the issues of Mary and Hank buying homes (and also buy land near by) from local developers at prices substantially reduced from the advertised price, after they voted on the same projects recently and Mary immediately started worked for them. We never faulted Mary for taking a position at LTV builders and wish her and her family the best of success for her new job. Her job at LTV builders was never an issue and she knew that. For her to bring up this non issue is nothing but a cheap smoke screen attempt to divert attention from the real issues of possible conflict of interests and special favors we have addresses honestly here. Matt lists the fact that Jerry listed his property on a 700 form as another smoke screen. We never disputed Jerry's 700 disclosure form fact. Still, for Jerry to negotiate with the developer in which he would financially benefit is a very clear violation of California Government conflict of interest laws just the same. The disclosure on the 700 form listing Jerry's property has absolutely no bearing on the clear conflict of interest per CA code sections. Matt, Please Read CA code Sec. 8700.Yourself !!! Public disclosure does not exempt Jerry from prosecution under this statute! More than 500 feet (or as in Hank's case 523 feet) does not exempt Hank from prosecution under this statute. Same goes for Mary. The firing of the chief was never mentioned by Matt or Mary and the substantial under funding of our police to the point of forcing them to go out on double the calls per day of all other valley officers was never mentioned also. Matt never addresses the reason why Jerry got his severance package on top of his salary even though he was never severed. Of why Jerry get paid for two jobs (also the city engineer) then needs to hire another manager at $93,000 to do his work as a city manager. We could go on and on. But you get the idea. Maybe we can hope that in the next Desert Breeze paper, Mary and Matt will actually be honest and answer our questions directly. Don't hold your breath! They are dishonest to the core. When they answer our questions honestly, we will let you know.

Remember, criminals now know were to go to get some predator action with less fear of being caught. DHS police are currently stretched so thin that DHS police officers currently go to twice as many calls per day as other valley police departments. Recent clowns Matt, Mary and Hank policy and actions will even increase their callouts per police officer. 05/05/05 DHS Clown Matt and Hank Terminate the First Amendment Desert Sun Article reports on Clown Mayor and present Council Dictator Matt terminating Gabriel King's First Amendment rights (and violating the brown act in the process). Gabriel King brought up (in a polite and non accusatory way) the fact that clown Hank recently purchased a home for $178,000 that was $72,000 under the current advertised price of $250,000 ("Mid 200,000's" @ bill board) on a project Hank recently approved while sitting on council. Since Hank refused to explain the reasons for the discount during Council session but choose instead to immediately (physically) run over to, and attacked Gabriel verbally after the Council Meeting calling Gabriel "a clown", we felt that it was appropriate to re title their leadership positions to more accurately reflect their actions.
05/04/05 Discovery more land deals & More of the same from our "Leaders" Council member Hank H Hohenstein refused to answer questions last night from Gabriel King regarding another highly probable shady (Quid Pro Quo) deal with LTV investments. The particulars are the recent sale of a home located at Desert Willows (65565 Acoma Avenue, #90, APN# 663-403-001 that occurred on February 22, 2005 to Hank by LTV builders for the sale price of $178,000. The current bill board advertised price for the same home today is "Mid 200,000's (as in $250,000) Hank refused to answer why he purchased his home at a $72,000 reduction in purchase price. Mayor Matt ran interference for Hank's possible shady deal by ordering Gabriel King to immediately sit down once he brought up the land deal issue. Matt stated that it was not appropriate for Gabriel to bring up this information in the public forum. Gabriel disagreed. Even though Matt raised his voice to the point of being completely out of control and immediately terminated Gabriel's second amendment right to speak, Gabriel remained calm and polite during the brief exchange. This favorable land deal and all the other LTV land deals made to Mary, Hank and Jerry immediately after their favorable rulings should be investigated by outside and local prosecutors for possible Quid Pro Quo bribery. At the very least many of these deals violate California conflict of interest laws including CA Gov. Code Section 87100 and 87105. Even though Hank refused to publicly answer Gabriel's questions, Hank walked over to Gabriel King immediately after the Council meeting and verbally attacked and insulted Gabriel in front of witnesses, calling him a "clown". Gabriel's only response was to politely ask Hank to leave and telling Hank "to have a nice day"

They currently have their spin machine running full time. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of the FACTS will find that their written responses to the problems DHS is facing, fall flat. One example of their deceptive comments is posted in the Desert Sun on 04/23/05. Another by the Mayor in the Valley Breeze. When one spins the truth, it is best to 1) attack the messenger and his/her motives and 2) mix in a little bit of truth in with your lies. 04/21/05 City Council Members skirt Brown Act & First Amendment requirements by using trickery and deception on DHS citizens!!! The request for a Grand Jury Investigation as Item 10.3 of the open session REGULAR SESSION was clearly asking for a "Grand Jury Investigation". The City Clerk also listed the same Item as 4.5 and "(GJ) (City Manager)" on the CLOSED SESSION AGENDA. How were we as citizens to know that this "(GJ) (City Manager)" was to have meant to be a request to have the Grand Jury or "(GJ)" look into the City Manager's and City Council, Hank H Hohenstein's shady land deals?? There was no "(HH)" in the closed session item list for "Hank Holstein". We feel that this is still a violation of the Brown Act. At the very least, it is a violation of the intent and spirit of the Brown Act and is a direct slap in the face insult to every citizen of our city. In order for these actions by council to not be a violation of the Brown Act, all of us would have to be mind readers. See Today's Desert Sun Article for the particulars. The fact the slimy council members used secret code to vote on a item in closed session then pull the same item listed twice on the public comment is despicable behavior. The fact that the City Council used trickery by listing the item twice, once in both closed session (noticed in secret abbreviated letters) in code and once in open session is despicable trickery. We need to remember these outrageous despicable arrogant acts this November and not allow Slimly Hank or Mary to become mayor of our city. 04/21/05 Dear Desert Sun Just because DHS CM Jerry Hansen lists property on a "700 form" does not exempt his actions from being a conflict of interest. The 700 form listing is irrelevant to the issue of conflict of interest. Remember, Jerry negotiated with a developer, then recommended approval of the same deal that will line his pocket with millions of dollars from the land he owns. Just because Jerry listed ownership of same on form is not relevant. Just because Council member Hank Hohenstein listed his property on a "700 form" and was 523 feet (as apposed to only 500 feet) away from a 2000 plus residential StoneRidge project does not exempt his actions of approving same project from being a conflict of interest. Remember, Hank did not recuse himself but instead voted for approval of project that will line his pocket with maybe millions of dollars from the land he owns. Jerry must go and Hank must not become Mayor of DHS!

It should be entertaining to see how DHS corruption apologist Bill Effenger and Cindy Uken spins/smokes and mirrors these recent events. Palo Alto attorney Robert Aaronson said that while Hill worked for the city, he uncovered what he described as "salary manipulation issues" and individuals using their official position to gain personal profit in land deals. "(Hill) saw sufficient evidence to create enough probable cause that someone needed to investigate," Aaronson told The Desert Sun. City Manager Jerry Hanson and other city officials had little to say about Aaronson's allegations. "I can't comment to that," Hanson said, regarding Hill's termination or statements concerning his whistle-blower status. Aaronson said the "salary manipulation" refers to the fact that "someone receives his severance pay although he's not severed." Aaronson would not say if that was a reference to Hanson.

03/27/05 Did Jerry Hansen screw the Police? Rumor has it that his representatives refused to fund the police retirement fund after he funded his own and Matt's retirement @ 2.7%. Seems not enough money left over after others including Jerry slobber at the trough. Rumor has it that Jerry's representatives later offered police 2% @ age 50 AND delayed starting coverage one year to June 2006 to save $160,000. Interestingly how Jerry and Matt were not willing to make the same 1 year delay sacrifice to save the city even more money.
