Answer: The past leadership (on this side of the freeway) has kept us stagnate. The leadership is the only item that is different. Everything else is the same. Dust cloud hits us driving along road separating Rancho Del Oro from Projects out of PM10 regulation compliance
Code Enforcement was out on Saturday. Only problem was that they where not enforcing the PM10 codes. Notice asphalt dumped in middle of road from illegal pipe over street just left there as eye sore.

About the only thing here in compliance is the notification sign. No wind fencing, no watering, not on site water, no 150' gravel transition zone, but lost of dust clouds!
Project dirt so soft from lack of watering that your feet sink in 6" just like on the moon (where there is not water). Also note that grading contractor/developer pushed junk care off of his property on to prestein desert property.

Looks like LTV has done nothing to correct these violations. See our article below on 11/16/05. Grading transition a mess. Natural water course undermining grade. This problem with lack of watering here and on the rest of the unfinished perimeter of the site will cause substantial dust clouds.

and the pipe for the water should be under grounded today. I warned

Departing DHS Mayor, Matt Weyuker's column in the Valley Breeze asks for a conciliatory tone of support for our new Mayor, Alex Bias. Immediately thereafter in the following sentence, Weyuker sends a barb to Bias by wrongly accusing him of using the recall to become elected. Please note that the Recall effort carefully made sure to never specifically supported any one of the 3 alternative mayoral candidates. Below is the 2 contradictory quotes as contained in the last 2 sentences in Weyuker's latest column as contained in the Valley Breeze. 11/16/05 GOOD NEWS! During last nights council meeting, Stephens/Weyuker dirty tricks was diverted. Pressure from the public & this Newspaper forced Council to pull agenda Item 10.7 & 10.8 to allow new council to appoint new commission. 11/16/05 During yesterdays Council meeting, Dot Reed defended her decision to turn the sacred veterans day proceedings into another (for a second time) Matt Weyuker appreciation day". Ms. Reed offered no apologies. She said that "you cant please everyone" (like all the veterans that where offended). Some offended veterans voiced their disgust during the council session. Maybe Ms. Reed should have notified the veterans (and their families) to not come to the veterans day proceedings next time. GOOD NEWS! Soon (hopefully) Dot Reed and the other power drunks including retiring Matt Weyuker will be long gone after our next council meeting. Hopefully their will not be a "next time" that Ms. Reed gets to offend our veterans on veterans day.

Community Task Force meeting
11/12/05 Mary Stephens & Matt Weyuker disgrace veterans during veterans day ceremony. Both turn sacred day into a circus of political posturing. Stephens openly insulted the Mayoral Elect and honorable veteran, Alex Bias. Stephens insults American flag tradition by improperly passing the flag. Stephens uses sacred event to publicly attack Mayoral elect Bias. Read letter by honorable vietnam veteran and church pastor. Again; Mary has no class or honor! Well, I attended the so called Veterans
Day celebration , as they say, 2 annual. Well, it started off
well enough, the presenting of the color guard by the DHS High
School ROTC, and a Msgt from the Marine Corps (ret). it lasted
all of 20 maybe if you stretch it 25 minutes. which included
the pledge to the flag, Led by some Economic Commission rep.
and than Mary Stephens had the Msgt speak, we listen to a soloist
sing the Anthem and than Mary stephens said the flag will be retired.
So the color guard came back lowered the flag. than the real celebration
started. It turned into the biggest Political Hail to the Chief
for Former mayor Weyuker.
Stephens did not recognize Mayor
Elect Bias except as a matter of second thought. she had Will
piper read a letter of praise for Weyuker, Stephens spoke several
times praise of Weyuker, Hohenstein read letter from some body
in praise of Weyuker, Corky larsen hugged and wallered all over
him. Than the apparent organizer ( sorry don't save all their
names) sang praises of him. Meanwhile we veterans were hardly
even mentioned, if at all. Than after all the "dignitaries (probably
misspelled) were finally finished. STephens again kept the mike
and started speaking of her personal thoughts of weyuker and listing
herself as well as the rest of the former council members as warriors.
When she was finished here come
the color guard again with a folded flag and handed it to the
Msgt saluted the flag, and the Msgt in turn turned and presented
the flag to Weyuker. Now, I am a Viet Nam vet along with at least
one other one(no name) he had got up and walked to the rear of
the park stood with his arms folded in front of him and hat pulled
down over his eyes. Now, to this vet watching them present a
flag to a living veteran let alone a mayor which the flag as
far as I have been trained is given to the family of a Dead veteran
who died honorably, or to the siblings. But, to watch them present
a flag to a living mayor who argued that Bosworth should have
not been elected because he is disabled, and he himself in a
wheel chair, can hardly put two words together clearly, totally
offended and disgusted me.
My thought is when that flag was
presented to Weyuker it was like STephens was saying the town
of DHS has died or is dying. How, childish can a group of so
called professionals carry on this way. It is totally unacceptable
to me. And it just goes to show the continued discontentment
in the election. It was like kids on a playground because one
didn't get picked they took their toys and went home. But instead
of a playground they took a hallowed event that should have been
for the vets of all services in remembrance, Not spoiled sibling
rivalry.
Also right before the flag passing, Stephens made mention that a certain business man (name withheld) was in the audience and she didn't want to mention his name so she said she will speak for him, and said that and I quote, "He told Weyuker that he brought his business to DHS because he knew with weyuker as mayor changes would come but now he is taking his business away from the city". This is such a childish game. I feel all vets should speak up against that celebration as total disrespect for the tradition of honoring the vets or just remove it completely! BTW even the President of the United states does not recieve a American Flag when he leaves office. Please explain this to me (SGT) Garrett Brooks

The city needs new leadership, starting at the top. Bias has clear faults, but Mary Stephens has not matured as a leader while vice mayor. Desert Hot Springs City Council - Gary Bosworth*, Dale Evenson. The city needs to eject council members who've made several poor judgments. Bosworth and Evenson offer integrity and honesty. * We prefer Robert Bentley for Council but are OK with Gary Bosworth. We also endorse Alex Bias, and Dale Evenson too!

The practice of hiring of incompetent friends of Mary Stephens (instead of the most qualified) by past city manager, Jerry Hansen has cause so many unnecessary lawsuits. Mary Stephens proudly told us in front of Recall volunteers that her campaign workers where actively removing all the recall signs. This sign removal activity is illegal. We all know that that has never stopped Mary's behavior before. Mary Stephens lacks even a speck of honor. 10/30/05 Per Mary Stephens (in person) Request yesterday, 10/29/05 we are herein retracting 3 of the 6 items posted on this web newspaper herein on 10/11/05. Other candidates including friends of Stephens released past public record information on other mayoral candidates including Alex Bias. We therefore intended our posting of the below said items regarding Stephens to be additional relevant information to allow the voter to do a proper comparative analyses on both of the candidates past history. Said items where posted from a general public record search. Ms. Stephens has brought forth documents showing that 3 of these items are untrue. Therefore in the name of fair play and our policy to not purposely publish anything that we would know or discover to be untrue (per compliance with expanded Sullivan rule; Sullivan vs New York Times) we, are are happy to immediately remove said items. 10/28/05 We endorsed Alex Bias for Mayor. The Desert Sun Endorses Alex Bias for Mayor. After all is said and done, Bias is the best chance for DHS to regain its dignity. When you get to know the man as we have, you will clearly conclude this too! Like us, the Desert Sun is sick of the years of Mary Stephens crap (blatant corruption, crone favoritism, poor judgment, arrogance, ridicule of citizens, patronizing sarcasm, slander of reputations and self serving developer land deals) too. Recall Mary Stephens (shown below). She must not be allowed to finish out her last 2 years on council! She has done enough damage already! Vote YES for Alex Bias for Mayor and keep her from retaining the Mayors position. Vote NO on arrogant incompetence by voting NO on Mary Stephens! 10/27/05 Desert Sun endorses Dale Evenson & Gary Bosworth. We endorsed Dale Evenson & Robert Bentley. Even though we would have preferred an enforcement for Robert Bentley, the Desert Sun could have done much worse and picked one of Mary Stephens corrupt friends for council.
